This identifier is required to obtain other business-related permits.<\/p>\n<h2>What is NIB Used For?<\/h2>\n<p>Business owners categorized as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) must legally register their businesses with the government by acquiring an NIB through the OSS platform. <\/p>\n<p>The issuance of NIBs through OSS is regulated under Government Regulation No. 24 of 2018 concerning Electronically Integrated Business Licensing Services.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have an NIB, it functions not only as your business identity but also as a Company Registration Certificate (TDP), Importer Identification Number (API), and Customs Access for businesses involved in export-import activities.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, you can use it to apply for a Micro and Small Business License (IUMK).<\/p>\n<p>Read also: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireappos.com\/news\/en\/newest-msme-criteria\/\" title=\"Latest MSME Criteria Regulations 2021\">Latest MSME Criteria Regulations 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Requirements for Obtaining NIB<\/h2>\n<p>The introduction of the <em>Online Single Submission<\/em> (OSS) platform is part of the government\u2019s efforts to simplify the previously complex and time-consuming licensing process.<\/p>\n<p>Under Government Regulation No. 5 of 2021 on Risk-Based Business Licensing, businesses of all sizes\u2014whether individuals, legal entities, MSMEs, or non-MSMEs\u2014can now apply for permits more efficiently in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Another convenience is that obtaining an NIB is completely free of charge, and its validity lasts as long as the registered business remains active and compliant.<\/p>\n<p>The documents and requirements you need to prepare before applying for an NIB include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>National Identity Card (KTP) and Identification Number (NIK) for OSS user-ID creation. For companies, use the NIK of the responsible person.<\/li>\n<li>Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) of the individual or company, or a copy of the Director\u2019s NPWP for legal entities.<\/li>\n<li>Company location sketch (for legal entities).<\/li>\n<li>Active phone number and email address.<\/li>\n<li>Business location in accordance with zoning regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Company Deed and AHU registration (for incorporated entities). AHU can be created online before accessing OSS. Below are the step-by-step instructions for obtaining an online NIB:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Creating an Account &#038; Access Rights for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE)<\/h3>\n<p>Prepare your e-KTP, NIK, active phone number, and email address. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/oss.go.id\/\" title=\"OSS.go.id\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OSS.go.id<\/a>. If a banner appears, close it by clicking the \u201cX\u201d symbol, then click \u201cREGISTER\u201d on the top-right corner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4340\" src=\"https:\/\/d2h87rbqc48mm2.cloudfront.net\/ir\/img\/oss-hak-akses-daftar-1.jpg\" alt=\"oss-account-registration\" width=\"564\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once logged in, the page titled \u201cWho Are You?\u201d will appear, as shown below. Simply select <strong>Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE)<\/strong> if you are the owner of a small business. Complete the entire BUSINESS ENTITY TYPE section as <strong>Individual Entrepreneur<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>Then, fill in the Identity Number, Date of Birth, Email Address, and Mobile Number fields. Now, to proceed with the online NIB registration, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/oss.go.id\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">oss.go.id<\/a> and click <strong>LOGIN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4357\" src=\"https:\/\/d2h87rbqc48mm2.cloudfront.net\/ir\/img\/oss-perizinan-masuk-1.jpg\" alt=\"oss-login-portal\" width=\"564\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter your <strong>Username<\/strong> and <strong>Password<\/strong>, along with the CAPTCHA code displayed. Select <strong>BUSINESS LICENSING<\/strong> from the main menu, then choose <strong>NEW APPLICATION<\/strong> from the dropdown list.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4355\" src=\"https:\/\/d2h87rbqc48mm2.cloudfront.net\/ir\/img\/oss-perizinan-baru-3.jpg\" alt=\"oss-new-application\" width=\"564\" height=\"284\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, choose <strong>Individual<\/strong> to apply for an NIB, then complete the <strong>Entrepreneur Information<\/strong> form. There are two options available depending on your business type:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the <strong>Individual Business Owner Data<\/strong> if you operate as a sole proprietor.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the <strong>Business Entity Data<\/strong> if your company is registered as a legal entity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4354\" src=\"https:\/\/d2h87rbqc48mm2.cloudfront.net\/ir\/img\/oss-perizinan-data-pelaku-usaha-4.jpg\" alt=\"oss-entrepreneur-data\" width=\"564\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, proceed to fill in your <strong>Business Data<\/strong>. For KBLI classification, click on the INFORMATION menu on the OSS homepage and select <strong>KBLI 2020<\/strong> or visit <a href=\"https:\/\/oss.go.id\/informasi\/kbli-berbasis-risiko\" title=\"KBLI 2020\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">KBLI 2020<\/a>. Enter your business activity (e.g., \u201ctextiles\u201d) in the search field.<\/p>\n<p>Note the code corresponding to your business activity and input it into the required field.
